After the flood of 2012, there was much work to be done to restore damaged areas around the Northland.  Great news arrived this week involving trail restoration in the western corridor.

According to City of Duluth Parks and Recreation, the city hired A+ Landscaping last year to work on several restoration projects for trails damaged in the flood.  These included work along the old Duluth Winnipeg Pacific rail bed, on old Thomson Hill Road leading up from the Zoo, a trail leading up from 95th Avenue West and various locations on the western snowmobile trail system.

This project started last year and will start up again next week, with completion expected sometime in July.

You may see crews at work as the entry locations for contractors to get into the damaged sites are:

  • Clyde Ave and W 95th Street
  • Gogebic Street
  • Knowlton Creek Boulevard
  • Redruth Street
  • Waseca Street
  • Vinland Street
  • Westgate Boulevard
  • Earl Street and Russell Road
