Fitger’s 5K Is Starting To Fill Up, Don’t Miss Out On This Annual Tradition
I’ve run Fitger’s 5K that past several years, and it’s a great way for me to kick off training for the Gary Bjorklund Half Marathon. This year’s Fitger’s 5K is April 20th and if you want to join the fun, sign up soon to guarantee your spot.
The Young Athlete’s Foundation is reporting that more than one-third of the spots for the 2013 Fitger’s 5K have been filled, so sign up before it’s too late!
Last year this race reached capacity in mid-March, more than a month before the race. The 2013 field is limited to the first 1,800 entrants.
If you haven’t already, register today for the 2013 Fitger’s 5K Run & Walk, scheduled for Saturday, April 20.
To sign up for the 24th annual event, runners and walkers should log on to www.GrandmasMarathon.com or www.YoungAthletesFoundation.com. The Fitger’s 5K registration process is conducted exclusively online.
The entry fee is $25 plus a processing fee with all net proceeds benefiting the Young Athletes Foundation (YAF), a Grandma’s Marathon program that focuses on the promotion and development of youth athletics throughout Carlton, Cook, Douglas, Lake and St. Louis Counties. Since its inception in 1990, the YAF has contributed more than $500,000 to area nonprofit youth athletic organizations.
The race begins at 9 a.m. on East Superior Street in front of Fitger’s and travels through downtown Duluth and Canal Park before finishing back at Fitger’s.
