Tis' the construction season.  While residents near 57th Avenue West and Highland street are dealing with rock blasting, other parts of the city are dealing with the install of a gas pipe line.  This could affect your travel with detours and delays.

The City of Duluth Public Works & Utilities Department indicated in a press release that the left lane of Third Street between 1st Avenue East and Mesaba Avenue is being closed to facilitate a natural gas utility project this week.

The right lane of this one-way street will remain open.  The parking lane will also remain open with only a few select locations being temporarily closed to parking. The project to replace five blocks of an aged 8” natural gas main is being done with Hanco Utilities and is expected to be ongoing until September.

As the pipe is installed along 3rd Street under the Lake, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Avenue intersections, motorists and pedestrians can expect detours. The detours will redirect traffic to 4th Avenue West or 1st Avenue East.
