I thought you should be forewarned, especially with Grandma's Marathon this past weekend.  There are a lot of tourists in town and Grandma's kinda kicks off our tourist season in the Twin Ports.  Part of the charm of the City of Duluth is the Lakewalk.  It's a must-see attraction that everyone can enjoy.  Whether you're walking the dog, rollerblading, riding a bike, jogging, or sitting with a hot cup of coffee and watching the sun rise over Lake Superior.  But, safety is a concern, especially while they are doing a bit of construction, so here's what you need to know.

Crews are working on reconstructing approximately 200 feet of the Lakewalk near the Canal Park Lodge and adjacent to the new public restroom facility in Canal Park. The project is required as a result of the new sanitary sewer overflow tank construction. The work began today and is expected to be completed by June 29, 2012.

It will remain open during the construction.

The City requests the public use caution when approaching the construction area as it will be congested with vehicles and workers. Bicyclists are asked to walk their bikes in this area.

Sorry for the inconvenience, you can still enjoy our beautiful Lakewalk, we just ask that you're cautious.

Thank you for your cooperation.
