The kids just got out of school, JUST and some of you may be hearing "I'm bored" already.  The Duluth Public Library is on it like a puma!  They have already put together fun, free programs for the week of June 15 that you're kids will love! (and YOU will too)!

Monday, June 15 will have the kids outdoor for games. Yes, at the library! It will take place at the Main Library Plaza (520 W. Superior St.) any time between 2 and 5 pm. There will be jump roping, hula hooping, hopscotch and other outdoor games for your kids to try. There will even be an obstacle course, sidewalk chalk and  a parachute.

Tuesday you'll want to head to the West Duluth Branch Library (5830 Grand Avenue) at 6:30 pm, June 16 for Around the Campfire".   Summer in northern Minnesota often means camping. Stop in and enjoy s'mores indoors, a fun summer camping craft and suggestions for some great books to kick off summer reading. For kids entering grades 1-6.

LEGOs @ the library is the activity planned for Wednesday, June 17 at 2 pm in the Main Library Green Room.  It's for kids entering grades K-5 and they'll be building an amazing LEGO creation based on the theme of the day or their own imagination. Registration is required for this one by calling 730-4200/option 4 or sign up online at www.duluthlibrary.org. If you can't make this one, LEGOs @ the library programs will also be held on July 9 (10:30 am) and August 10 (6 pm).

Thursday, June 18 is for teens in grades 6 through 12.  Come enjoy the Teen Anime & Manga Club!  It will be held in the Main Library Green Room between 4 and 6 pm. Anime, cosplay, manga, food and games. Anime Club meetings are held monthly, year round, come see what it's all about.

Go to the movies on Friday, June 19!  Fridays are made for movies!!!  You'll see "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” The movie is based on a classic children's picture book and will be shown in the Main Library Green Room at 2 pm. Rated PG, 81 minutes.

Also on Friday, June 19 there will be a Teen Songwriting Workshop.  What a great learning experience that will be fun and possibly spur a career!!   Songwriter/poet/School of Rock professor Brian Laidlaw will lead a songwriting workshop at 3:30 pm in the Main Library Gold Room for teens entering grades 6-12. He'll talk about ways to gather musical inspiration from our day-to-day lives, and try out some exercises that help develop an idea into a fully formed song.

Kids will have an absolute blast with all the free activities the Duluth Library has planned!  Take advantage of the learning experience and the opportunity to make new friends!
