Although it doesn't LOOK like Spring outside, children who attend the Duluth Public School system will have next week off for spring break.  Relax parents and guardians, the Duluth Public Library has the answer to "what will I do to keep the kids busy"?  Plan on a trip to the library every day next week, they'll keep you and your family busy with fun, educational and memorable things to do together, and it's FREE!The staff at the Duluth Public Library did some brainstorming and came up with a variety of FREE events for all ages.  Mark your calendars and make plans to have your family attend (and bring friends).  In fact, you and other parents of your kids friends can take turn bringing the kids, so you get a little ME time next week too!

Monday, April 7 – Movie for teens and adults: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire – Main Library Green Room, 2 pm.

Monday, April 7 – Personal & Political History in the Balkans – Main Library Green Room, 6:30 pm.  Former state representative Mike Jaros will talk about growing up in Bosnia and returning to Sarajevo three months after the siege ended in 1996. UMD Professor Alexis Pogorelskin will put the Bosnian conflict into the context of the history of the Balkans. A One Book, One Community program.

Monday, April 7 – Beginning Computers: Word Processing with Microsoft Word – Main Library Computer Lab, 6:30 pm.  Learn the basics of Microsoft Word to create and edit documents. Call 730-4200/option 6 to sign up for this free session.

Tuesday, April 8 – Terrific Tambourines – Main Library Green Room, 10:30 am and 12:00 pm.   Duluth Art Institute staff will help kids create their own tambourines. Space is limited to 20 kids per session; call 730-4200/option 4 to sign up. A One Book, One Community program.

Tuesday, April 8 – Preschool Storytime - Mt. Royal Branch Library, 10:15 am.  20-30 minutes of stories, songs and fingerplays for children from birth through age 5.

Tuesday, April 8 - Bedtime Storytime - West Duluth Branch Library, 6:30 pm.  20-30 minutes of stories, songs and fingerplays for children from birth through age 5.

Wednesday, April 9 - Baby and Toddler Time - Main Library Green Room, 10:15 am.  20 minutes of simple stories and fingerplays for infants and toddlers from birth to 36 months, with parents.

Wednesday, April 9 - Storytime - Main Library Green Room, 11:15 am.   30 minutes of stories, songs and fingerplays for children ages 3-5. Parents are welcome but this may also be used as a first independent activity.

Wednesday, April 9 – Wii U Gaming for Kids – Main Library Gold Room, 2 – 4 pm.

Thursday, April 10 – Wii U Gaming for Teens – Main Library Gold Room, 3 – 6 pm.

Thursday, April 10 – Teen Anime & Manga Club – Main Library Green Room, 4 – 6 pm.

Friday, April 11 – Movie for kids: Frozen – Main Library Green Room, 2 pm.

Friday, April 11 – Movie for adults and teens: Ender’s Game - Gold Room, 2 pm.
