As I was thinking about changes I need to make for 2017, I took time to reflect on what has gotten Northlanders talking and expressing their opinions.  Our celebrations and things we endured together that made us stronger as a community.  I came up with a top 4 and added one personal memorable moment.

    DECC's 50th Anniversary

One of the most talked about events was the 50th Anniversary of the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center, formerly known as the Duluth Arena.  There was an all-employee reunion and an unforgettable performance by the Beach Boys and the Temptations.  There are so many memories of the DECC that we turned it into a very interesting video series with Dan Russell, Executive Director of the DECC.

    July 21, 2016 Storm

It caught us off guard and hit when most people were sleeping.  Power was lost and for the first time I can remember in my 20 years in radio, I showed up to a dark, silent studio.  Then, pictures started appearing on Facebook of uprooted trees, severely damaged business signs and the realization that power was out and for many it would be days until it was restored.  Ken and I tried our best to get information to you with a Facebook live video.

My Personal Memorable Moment: My Daughter Graduating From UMD

This one is personal, but was a definite highlight of my family's 2016.  Kylee graduated from UMD.  It seems that I was just writing a blog about her graduating from high school and getting use to her being out of the house and in college and BOOM, 4 years had passed and I was being a proud mama as she walked across the stage to get her degree.
