I recently purchased a pair of Yaktrax this winter.  My hope was they would help with footing while ice fishing.  I took a couple of spills last year, and there is no fun hauling your gear off the lake with a sprained knee.   I was a bit worried though if they would actually work as advertised, and more importantly would they actually fit my large feet.

I have size 14 boots and these XL were for sizes 12+.  But how far could they actually stretch?  I was hesitant when I took them out of the package sitting on my tailgate looking at the smooth, glassy ice on the lake in front of me.  "There's no way these are gonna fit," I thought to myself.

To my surprise they fit just fine, and weren't even hard to put on.  Wow! Ok, next step, will they actually work?

I was hauling my Otter Sled with a bunch of gear on board and it was about as slippery ice as you could get.  There was no snow cover at all.  I stepped out and started my way out and didn't slip even once.  They are that good.   My fishing partner was falling all over the place and couldn't even get enough traction to pull the sled.  Without the Yaktrax, we would have had heck of a time getting out there.

Also when you're in an icehouse without a floor, after a while the heater can melt the snow a bit and make it pretty icy.  The Yaktrax come in handy there as well.

I highly recommend these to anyone looking for some extra confidence on the ice.
