I wasn't even aware that this is the first year that there will be an elk hunt in Wisconsin. If you want a tag, you better hurry and submit your application by the end of the month. It's a very limited bull only hunt, but nonetheless this will be the first year.

Wisconsin reintroduced elk to the Clam Lake Range (located around Clam Lake, Wisconsin) back in 1995. The herd has grown over the years and wildlife management believes that they can now do a limited 5 bull elk hunt.

In order to get a tag, you'll need to submit an application along with a fee, and an additional fee if you are awarded a tag.

In addition, you need to be a Wisconsin resident. For more information on the elk hunt and lottery system, you can visit the Wisconsin DNR website.

You can also learn more information about the reintroduction of the elk in Wisconsin and the continuing efforts by visiting Clam Lake Wisconsin's site.
