If City Councilor Gary Krause and Pawn America have their way, pawn shops in Duluth may soon be able to be open on Sundays.

The Northland's News Center is reporting that Krause introduced the proposal on behalf of Pawn America.

Duluth is the only community in 23 that Pawn America serves where they cannot do pawn sales on Sundays.

The public had a chance to weigh in on the subject tonight at the city council agenda meeting.

Pawn shop owners opposing the proposal say that opening on Sundays would increase cost of business and extend already long work weeks.  They say that even though they would not be forced to be open Sundays, they would need to be for competitive reasons.  If your competitor is open for business, you hate to be closed for the day.

Do you think pawn shops should be open Sundays?
