Long-time coach of the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton boys hockey team Dave Esse has resigned after 18 seasons behind the bench.

According to the Duluth News Tribune, Esse has resigned from his position with CEC. Esse led the Lumberjacks to the Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament twice as head coach, in both 2002 and 2008. CEC lost 1-0 in the Section 7AA semi-finals this past season to Duluth East and finished with a record of 16-9-2.

The DNT is also reporting that former NHLer and Olympic Captain Jamie Langenbrunner will not be back as an assistant coach for next season.
