When I got my first job at the Wrenshall School pool I rode my bike to work on a SUPER hilly, loose graveled Alcohol Road (yes, that is the actual name of the road).  Not because I was "green" or I enjoyed the exercise.  It was because my mom worked and if I wanted the job it was bike or walk.  Where was National Bike to Work Day then?

Times have changed and not only do we have  National Bike to Work Day, but you also have the chance to ride with Mayor Don Ness and have lunch!  On Friday, May 8th, bike enthusiasts will join him for the annual Mayor’s Bike Ride.  Will you be in the pack?

Riders will gather at 11:45 at City Hall in Duluth and leave at noon with the destination Valentini's on London Road.  There you will have lunch while Mayor Don Ness reflects on the progress we've made in recent years and gives the city's vision for continuing to advance and support bicycling in our community.

Lunch is $13 and includes salad, bread stick, pasta with your choice of sauce, a meatball, and water, coffee, and lemonade. Gluten-free and vegetarian options are available. Advanced registration is strongly encouraged.

The City installed self-service bicycle repair stations on our popular bike trails.
