When I got my first job at the Wrenshall School pool I rode my bike to work on a SUPER hilly, loose graveled Alcohol Road (yes, that is the actual name of the road).  Not because I was "green" or I enjoyed the exercise.  It was because my mom worked and if I wanted the job it was bike or walk.  Where was National Bike to Work Day then?

Times have changed and not only do we have  National Bike to Work Day, but you also have the chance to ride with Mayor Don Ness and have lunch!  On Friday, May 16, bike enthusiasts will join him for the 3rd annual Mayor’s Bike Ride.  Will you be in the pack?

Riders will embark from Duluth City Hall at Noon with the destination Clyde Iron, 2920 West 29th Ave North.  There you will have lunch while Mayor Don Ness and County Commissioner Frank Jewell speak about the status of various trail and transit projects. They will also have information and materials available on numerous public projects and bicycling initiatives in our community. Lunch is $15 per person for a pasta buffet. Make plans to attend and register now!

The Mayor’s Third Annual Bike Ride and Luncheon are part of Bus. Bike. Walk. Month which is a month-long celebration that comingles bicyclists, businesses, art hounds, outdoor enthusiasts, active commuters, and families that share a mutual love for busing, biking, and walking.

The City recently announced that they will be installing self-service bicycle repair stations on popular bike trails.
