On Thursday, October 13, 2016, workers are going to assemble a crane so they can remove some heavy equipment from the roof of the CenturyLink building.  That means they will need to close some downtown Duluth streets to accommodate.

In planning for the assembly of the needed crane it will be necessary to close some streets.  West 1st Street between 3rd and 4th Avenues West.  Once that project is done they will be moving the crane to the west end of that block.  Then, West 1st Street is expected to be closed about mid-block west through the intersection of 4th Avenue West. The contractor will have 4th Avenje West closed from above West 1st Street south to the nearest alley.

While the assembly of the crane and the removable of equipment will start on Thursday, they expect that it will take a few days.   The City of Duluth anticipates that through Sunday, October 16, West 1st St. will be converted to two-way to allow vehicle access into the parking ramp connected to maurice's headquarters and from 3rd Ave West to the parking garage at 315 West 1st St.

If you are looking to get into the CenturyLink use the entrance on the north side of the building, the sidewalk in front of the building will be closed.

Barring any inclement weather conditions they will disassemble the crane on Monday, October 17.  At that time, they will once again need to close West 1st Street between 3rd 4th Avenues West, but just for the day.  All roads should be good to go by Tuesday, October 18.
As always, thanks for your patience and understanding!
