When Star Wars Was Released, this Was the #1 Country Song

With "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" hitting theaters this week, I thought it would be cool to have my Country Throwback revisit the song that topped the charts the week the first "Star Wars" film was released.

"Star Wars" was released on May 25, 1977. I remember seeing the movie as a young boy and being completely amazed. I couldn't get enough of all things "Star Wars" and I would ultimately see the movie 8 times in the theater that year.

As people drove to and from movie theaters across the country when it was released, Waylon Jennings had the #1 country song in America. "Luchenback, Texas (Back To The Basics Of Love)" would ultimately spend 6 weeks at the top of chart.
