Congratulations to the latest recipient of a $200 grant from maurices, Nadine Moeller.  Her students will be working on Character Education that benefits our local Service Members.

Woodland Middle School grades 6-8 will be working on Character Education with emphasis on responsibility, caring, citizenship, decision making, mutual respect and fairness. Students in home base will individually or collectively write letters, fill care packages, and develop ongoing communication with service men and women who are serving overseas.

Through the correspondence, it is our goal that students will learn about the commitment and sacrifices made on the part of the service members and that the students will see how this directly impacts our own community.

Students will focus on service members from our region so that there is a tie-in to our communities. We will begin this project mid-October and continue through the school year with the final goal of some students participating in the Welcome Home Ceremonies.

If you are an instructor working on a project with your students that benefits the community, visit our website for more information about "Service Learning Northland" and how you could win a $200 grant from maurices.
