Cole Swindell's new single "Break Up In the End" is a breakup song with a bittersweet twist, and the singer admits he's been on both sides of it. He's been dumped and he's dumped, so who better to read these good, bad and awful (but still kinda funny) break up lines?

Much like he did reading bad pickup lines in October 2016, Swindell delivered each quip seconds after reading it for the first time. So yeah, he did not write these breakup lines, nor has he ever used him. That seems important to mention, if only because it'd be fair to hate on a guy who actually has said things like "Can we still share a Netlix account?"

As for his own breakup moments? "Maybe it didn’t end on bad terms (but) it was just not gonna work out," he tells Taste of Country, reflecting without mentioning a specific person. "I think those are the sad kind, when you know that there’s nothing that can be done."

Adding that it's better to love and lose than never love at all, Swindell says he likes releasing relatable songs that let his fans know he's lived through similar ups and downs, even if he guards details of his personal life. The first single from an upcoming album reveals new vulnerabilities. Even the production is more fragile.

So, how does he say goodbye? Spoiler alert: he's never said, "I love you but I'm not in love with you."

“I’m kind of a runner," Swindell says. "Before it gets too serious or whatever, I just don’t wanna hurt anybody because I know what that’s like, and I think that may have affected my relationships."

Currently, Swindell is on the Reason to Drink Tour with Chris Janson and Lauren Alaina.
