I can't believe how many ice fishing houses I've seen out on Lake Superior lately.  Especially right out from 21st Avenue East, it's like a little fishing village.  With Spring just two weeks away, the U.S. Coast Guard warns the ice anglers.

The Coast Guard cutter, Alder will start breaking ice on Lake Superior today, Wednesday, March 4.  They'll be out often during the next couple of weeks in both the Duluth and Superior harbors, then eventually you'll see them out in Two Harbors, Silver Bay and up to Thunder Bay.

Because ice anglers are sometimes set up close to the shipping channel when the shipping season is idle, they feel you need to be reminded.  You are advised to use caution and plan where you set up your ice house or ride your snow mobile.  Avoid being too close to the shipping channel.
