In the past when I've blogged that the Public Works and Utilities Department had asked us to conserve water it was for a specific area in the Northland.  However, this time the City of Duluth is asking that ALL Duluth residents and even businesses conserve water and here's why.

All day today and into the evening, crews will be working to repair several water main breaks and also conducting necessary maintenance on a water transmission line.  The reason we are all affect is it is a main feeder line that serves all areas in the city.

Thankfully water service will not be completely down but the system could be strained if there many of us are using a lot of water during these repairs. We are asked to wait to use appliances that require large amounts of water, for example, washing machines or dishwashers. Also, please refrain from from watering lawns during this water conservation period.  Things should be back to normal by later tonight.

As always, the City thanks the public for their cooperation and patience.
