Wow, the City of Duluth is on top of it this year.  While on their website I noticed that you can already go online and get your pet licensed for 2017.  I've lived in the country most of my life, so moving to Duluth was a culture shock where pets are concerned.  My dog is now on a leash in the yard for safety concerns, his and that of people passing by.  Before you get busier with holiday festivities, get your 2017 Pet License renewed and cross it off your list.

Pet owners, whether you own a cat, dog or both are encouraged to learn more about the benefits of compliance, details about the revised rules and most importantly, to get their pets licensed through the Duluth City Clerk’s office.  If you live within the city limits and own a dog or cat, this means you.  Your annual license covers you from January 1 to December 31 and you're expected to renew it every year unless you buy a lifetime pet license.  If you licensed your pet last year you should receive a renewal notice in the mail.

fee structure has been developed for pet licenses with different levels of fees depending on whether animals have been vaccinated and spayed/neutered.

Why should you license your pet?  Because pet owners who are not compliant with licensing requirements will be charged higher fees and could result in delays in getting their pets returned. If you own more than 4 dogs or cats you need to fill out a maximum pet license application.
