The Minnesota Wild ultimately disappointed again this season and today Wild owner Craig Leipold announced that GM Chuck Fletcher would not be back next season.

Fletcher had been the Wild general manager and executive vice president since 2009.  The Wild have had winning seasons and have made the playoffs six years in a row, but the team has been knocked out in the first round of the playoffs four of those six post seasons.

The search is on now for a new Wild GM.  According to StarTribune.com:

Wild President Matt Majka will conduct the search with Leipold for anew general manager. Leipold said he would not hire a general manager who recommended a long-haul approach to winning the franchise's first championship.

The bottom line is Minnesota takes a lot of pride in their hockey teams and simply making the NHL Playoffs is not enough with the players they've acquired and the money they've spent.  It's time for a new voice and to shake things up.
