Chris Janson delivers a powerful message of respect for women to all the young men out there in his new song “Drunk Girl.”

While the title may lead you to believe it’s simply about drinking and girls, don’t be fooled –  Janson comes from a place of concern and support from the perspective of a father with the emotional track. The song kicks off with a soft piano before being accompanied by Janson’s poignant vocals, telling the young man who helps an inebriated woman to simply help make her way home without crossing any dangerous lines. “Take a drunk girl home / Let her sleep all alone / Leave her keys on the counter your number by the phone / Pick up her life she threw on the floor,” he sings.

One of the more emotional songs on the album, Janson says he wrote the song hoping that this is how a man would treat his two daughters should they find themselves in a similar situation. “It’s certainly a compelling track in the regard that it was written from a father’s perspective. If my daughter were ever in that situation, the song is how I hope a young man would treat my daughter,” he tells Taste of Country about the thought-provoking track.

“Drunk Girl” is featured on his 2017 album Everybody that includes 12 songs all co-written by Janson, including the lead single “Fix a Drink” and newly released song “Who’s Your Farmer.” He just wrapped up his stint as an opening act on Sam Hunt‘s 15 in a 30 Tour alongside Maren Morris. Janson continues on his own headlining Everybody Tour through early 2018.
