5908 Highway 61 in Silver Bay

Driving MN Highway 61 near Silver Bay, you'll pass a modest driveway that leads into the trees toward Lake Superior. Driving by, you wouldn't think much of it. There are several of them along 61. At the end of this particular driveway, however, is a gem of a house that looks like it belongs on the ocean cliffs in Southern California.

Located just over an hour's drive north of Duluth, this $5.495 million lake home rests atop a rock cliff just north of Illgen City and Tettegouche State Park on a parcel of 7.5 acres of Lake Superior shoreline. Sotheby's International Realty is listing the home, which features 4 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms (yes, more bathrooms than bedrooms), 2 partial baths, and 7,200 square feet of space. The property's 7.5 acres includes 1,480 feet of linear shoreline, the main building, a treetop art studio, and guesthouse featuring a private beach.

The compound was featured last week in Mansion Global, where listing agent Ross Melby calls it "Scandinavian Zen,” combining "the Nordic feel of the region with Asian influences." Mansion Global highlights some of the additional features of the home, which include an outdoor hot tub overlooking the lake, an infrared sauna, the treetop art studio, paved fire ring area, as well as a bathroom entirely dedicated to wellness. This particular bathroom features a steam shower, wooden bath, and infusers to spray the scent of your choice into the room.

You can get a taste of the home in the photos above and the video below from Sotheby's International Realty, but you really should check out the full listing here to see all the features and incredible photos..
