You and your family can take part in a community ride that will wind along College Street, through UMD, to the Bluestone Commons entrance, and beyond to celebrate and learn about Duluth’s newest trail next Wednesday, July 22.

Since I recently developed a stress fracture in my heel and am in a walking boot, I've had to put running on the back burner and take up bike riding, so I'm super excited about the new trail!  You can ride on the new trail with a guided bike tour on Wednesday, July 22.  The new trail will connect multiple schools and neighborhoods with a direct link to the Lakewalk!

On Wednesday, July 22 they will start the event with a press event at 4:45 PM at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 835 West College Street.  Then the bike rides will start as follows:

5:00 PM -  City staff will talk about plans for the trail

5:30 pm - Two groups will leave from Unitarian Universalist Church parking lot off of College Street for a guided ride.

Bluestone Group: Rides College St. bike lanes and paved trail through UMD to Bluestone and back. 2.5 miles.

Tischer Group: Continues past Bluestone through Mount Royal to the top of the Tischer Creek Trail and back. 3.2 miles.

Other events in the church parking lot include snacks from Mount Royal Fine Foods, kids biking activities and prizes to be given away.  They will also have forms available if you want to submit your idea for naming the new bike trail, wouldn't that be cool to be part of history!

Bring a helmet, your bike, and you family and friends! All abilities are invited!
