Former Northlander, Mary Jezierski Gives Storm Details from Her Neighborhood in New York After Hurricane Sandy Hits [AUDIO]

History repeats itself, to a point.  The picture left is of a very good friend, Mary Jezierski.  She is a Northland girl, graduated from Proctor, attended UMD and worked as a reporter at the now Northland's Newscenter.  She lives in New York and we were able to speak to her Tuesday morning after Hurricane Sandy had hit the coast.

All eyes are on Hurricane Sandy, which is still a Category 1 hurricane expecting to make landfall in the U.S. on Monday evening.  It is shaping up to be one of the largest hurricanes to ever hit the Eastern U.S. with an impact area of almost 1,000 miles wide.

Area Red Cross on Standby as Massive Hurricane Approaches East Coast

Meteorologists are calling this things like "Frankenstorm" as Hurricane Sandy approaches the east coast of the United States.  The storm that has already claimed nearly two dozen lives in the Caribbean churned Friday near the northern Bahamas and it's expected to hit the states as early as Monday.  This storm could merge with a cold front from the west and rival the "Perfect Storm" of 1991 out east.  Chapters of the Red Cross in the Northland are ready.

Week To End with Colder Weather and a Winter Weather Advisory Just Outside of the Twin Ports

You've heard the talk of snow potential, and the Twin Ports will primarily see rain with a chance at some mixed precipitation and snow showers over the next 48 hours.  However, if you planning on traveling during that time frame, check the weather of your route.  The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for parts of the Northland from 4pm Thursday until 7pm Friday and measurable snow is expected.
