Flash Flood Warning In Effect For Parts Of The Northland Until 8:30am Tuesday

Just what we need, more rain.  Our stormy night has a lead to another flash flood warning for areas in the Northland and we're advised to stay off the streets within the warning area.

Our partners at the Northland's News Center are reporting a flash flood warning is in effect until 8:30AM for Aitkin, Carlton, Douglas, Crow Wing, NE Burnett, N Pine and N Washburn Counties.

Only Highway 210 In Jay Cooke State Park Remains Inaccessible In Northeastern Minnesota

For many, a long road to recovery remains in place following Northland flooding.  While it is a daunting task, each day can bring a little progress.  We received word from The Minnesota Department Of Transportation that more roads that had been closed are becoming passable once again.  According to their press release:

Four highways remain closed in Northeastern Minnesota after last week’s storm that caused massive flooding. Three of the four closed highways have short detours in place.

We've just received word from the Minnesota Department Of Transportation that I-35, just south of Duluth will close temporarily for emergency road repairs on Tuesday, June 26, from 5:30 a.m. to approximately 8:30 a.m.

Over $100 Million In Damage Estimated From Northland Flooding

I have a sneaking suspicion that the most recent $100 million damage estimate will be a lot lower than the final tally.  Just today Moose Lake forced evacuations and other areas like Barnum are still uncovering new damage.  The bottom line is despite the storms being over, there is still damage being done.

Although we saw some sunshine today in the Northland, that doesn't take away from the fact that there are still those suffering from the storms and flooding this week.  The evacuations today of areas like Moose Lake attest to that.  Our media partners at Northlands News Center are reporting flood related road closures.
