Tentative Vikings Stadium Deal Is Set

The latest update in 'As The Stadium Turns'.  It appears there is a tentative in place but, as you will see, there are a couple big hurdles to overcome before there would be an official green light.  Of course, this is an election year too so you never know what crazy things will happen.

Minneapolis, the state and the Minnesota Vikings have reached a tentative agreement on a new, $975 million stadium on a site at or near the Metrodome and on how to divide the costs, multiple sources said Friday.

Under the preliminary deal, the city would contribute

Will Viking’s Running Back Adrian Peterson Choose A New Jersey Number?

Apparently, AP is bored while he is recovering from knee surgery, but he is proving to be thrifty.  He was thinking it was time for a change in jersey numbers.  GREAT!  I own TWO, not one, but TWO of his "28" jerseys.  BUT, he doesn't want to spend the money, so we're good, at least for now.  Here's his reasoning according to Fox Sports.com.

Rep. Lanning: Dayton’s ‘Harsh’ Words Do Not Help Vikings Stadium Deal

Politicians crack me up, it's like never growing up.  "You hurt my feelings, now I'm going to hurt yours you poopy butt!".  Hopefully cooler heads prevail and they quit being so crazy sensitive.

Gov. Mark Dayton’s pointed comments Monday that Senate Republicans were “unfit to govern” may affect one of the biggest issues at the state Capitol – whether to pass legislation for a new Minnesota Vikings stadium.

I wonder if there will be a day when we solve this issue.  At least the focus is now in the same area.

Wilf ‘Optimistic’ About Metrodome Site, But Problems Remain

Of course, don't rule out Arden Hills either.  It's crunch time for the Vikings stadium decision.

Minnesota Vikings owner Zygi Wilf emerged from a three-hour meeting Wednesday in Gov. Mark Dayton’s office and said he was “optimistic” that the team’s new stadium could be built at the Metrodome.

But Wilf, the governor, Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak and others painted a disjointed picture of how much progress was being made toward a new stadium, with Rybak again insisting that the city would not participate financially unless there was also monetary relief for Minneapolis’ Target Center.

Minneapolis City Council Passes Taxi Cab Credit Requirement

This just passed in Minneapolis and I think it should hit the Northland too.  I took a cab in Minneapolis this summer and was happily surprised they took check cards or credit cards, not just cash.  As this story supports, my tip to the cab drive was a little more than if I had to pay cash so I think it's a win for everyone over time.  Thoughts?

Red Cross Is Asking For “Heros Award” Nominations

Do you know someone that deserves recognition?  The American Red Cross is asking for nominations of people that  have performed extraordinary acts to save lives.  To often we don't take the time to thank these individuals, and sometimes, a mere  "thank you" doesn't seem like enough.  Take a minute of your day and make a difference in a life that made a difference by saving another.

The Body Of Michael Philbin, Son Of Packers Offensive Coordinator Joe Philbin, Found

I mentioned yesterday that having a son missing really puts something so trivial as a football game in perspective.  So sad that this story ended in such tragedy for the family and Packers organization.

Yesterday, Michael T. Philbin, son of Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin, was reported missing after last being heard from about 2 a.m. Sunday morning.
