I was looking forward to today, because the elections are over.  We no longer have to hear or see the annoying ads that are all over TV, Radio, and even YouTube.  But then I forgot about something... Facebook.  Oh yes, there would be a ton of people in heated debate over every post about politics.   But hey-  where else can you go off about politics?  Social media is perfect, because you can say a

New to town?  Just turned 18?  Haven't voted in the past and want to start?  There's lots of reason why you might be looking for your polling site.  The main thing is that you get out and cast your ballot, let your voice, your opinion be heard.  Here's info on where to vote and if needed, how you can get there.

In some countries they don't have the opportunity to cast a vote.  In our country, we do.  However, many don't vote for various reasons.  Some don't think they know the candidates well enough, some claim they aren't familiar with the issues, still others just can't get to the polls.  The Duluth Transit Authority has a solution to that problem.

The election season is winding down, with many races still up for grabs.  Now is the time for final swings for the fences by candidates, including celebrity endorsements.  Duluth saw that first hand this week with a visit by "Mad Men" star Jon Hamm.

Political season is in fully swing and next week, Duluth will welcome a visitor from Washington.

I think this is one of those years where it is confusing as to what each candidate stands for, what they are running on and who they are opposing. Most of the ads I see are telling you what the other does wrong. If I believe them, no one deserves to be in office.

Every September 11th since 2001, we remember the horrific terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and the plane that went down in Pennsylvania.  Some people believe we should move on.  Literally we get complaints sometimes when we play patriotic music to remember, saying "when can we move on and not make a big deal about it every year?"

Navy Week is being celebrated right now!  This week long event is something that the Navy has been doing since 2005.  My most memorable Navy Week was when Andy Baldwin (a former bachelor contestant who is also a Navy doctor came to town).  ;)  This year, members of the USS Minnesota will be in the Northland to give us insight to what it is they do and what the Navy is all about.

Ever since Fon Du Luth Casino quit paying the city for their presence in Downtown Duluth, there has been a shortage in funds for street repairs.  A new proposal would charge residents and businesses a monthly fee.

You will still have to prove residency in your district, show your driver's license and sign the paper before you get a ballot, but what's ON your ballot may change.  The Duluth City Council is considering "ranked-choice" voting.  How do you feel about that?

Duluth's Park Point has been a hot topic as of late as the city looks at exploring some changes to the popular summer destination.
