Meet Yum-Yum and Rascal, they are besties and would like to find their forever home together. Rascal is the Siamese on the left. They will keep each other company and you'll get to enjoy the company of two wonderful pets in your home with a discount from Animal Allies.
I am NOT a reptile fan. Snakes, lizards, gaters, crocks, don't want to have anything to do with them. So I was horrified when I saw that a woman in Florida was selling an alligator, albeit it's a fully trained one. What does that mean????
We've all heard how unsafe it is to leave your pet in a hot car in the Summertime. The Winter and the cold that comes with it presents it's own challenges. Here are a few tips that will help your pet during the freezing months ahead.
The holidays are behind us and we are thinking about our end-of-the-year tasks that need to be done, like getting stuff together for taxes. One thing that gets overlook is licensing our pets. I lived in the country most of my life, so moving to Duluth was a culture shock where pets are concerned. My dog is now on a leash in the yard for safety concerns, his and that of people passing by. If you haven't already filled out your 2016 Pet License yet, it's time and if you're renewing you can do it online this year.
Kids, families and even dogs are invited to get their picture taken with Santa at the Fitger's Complex. Donations benefit the Northern Lights Foundation and other non-profit organizations. It's FREE to military families and pets are more than welcome! (especially when I'm there volunteering!)
Every Wednesday we take a few minutes to chat with Daryl from Animal Allies. Today he introduced us to Cybil. He described her as an 8 year old Norwegian Forest Cat. Maybe I'm the only one, but I had to have him repeat that. I've never heard of one before, and it turns out they have a cool history.
Halloween can be a very stressful time on your pet, even if they are the easy going sociable type. All the noises outside, strangers continually at the door, and extra excitement going on inside the house too.
Our cat is a source of constant amusement or frustration, depending on what kind of mood you're in. One thing she's never done is drink out of her water dish. She's drank out of the toilet since day one. I got sick of paw prints on the seat, so we've been keeping the toilet lid down. Now she does this, which I guess is better.
Daryl talked about a cat this morning. Animal Allies PR guy brought up the fact that Queenie, aptly named, will probably take over your household. She is a loyal cat, as he points out, but likes to rule the roost.
I barely get a break once I get home from work. My Schnauzer Bauer wants to play constantly. But, I noticed that whenever a dog (or any animal for that matter) comes on TV, he immediately drops what he's doing and is engaged. The light bulb went off in my head and off to the store we went to buy a copy of the Homeward Bound movie! Did it work?
