April 15, 2013 With many lakes in Minnesota still ice covered, along with some streams and rivers, the DNR has announced that there will be seasonal closures on some waters to protect certain fish spawns.
April 4, 2013 If you're like me, you're probably already itching for fishing season, which in Minnesota is a little more than a month away. Today I was looking around on the DNR website and found a handy guide that you can download that helps you identify fish and where to find them. It's pretty neat!

I was walking through Walmart in Superior the other day when I came near the sporting goods section and saw an end cap of an aisle with boxes of firewood. On it, they said 'Premium Natural Firewood.' $3.00 for .75 cubic feet. Are people buying this?
February 26, 2013 It's been warming up the last few days and the snow has been melting. Also, the ice has been starting to get a little thinner. This is normal for this time of year and the deadlines to remove ice shelters reflect that. In Minnesota, if you're south of the Highway 2 line you'll need to have your ice house off the lake by Monday March 4th.
February 22, 2013 Earlier this week we covered the Solon Springs Lion's Club Ice Fishing contest and got to see some pretty nice ice houses! Now here's the rest with a visit to the other side of the lake. There was some pretty deep snow on the lake and the B105 van wasn't able to make it, so we had an interesting way to get out to the ice house! It's a little red neck!
February 20, 2013 This last Saturday we packed up the B105 van and made our way to beautiful Solon Springs, Wisconsin to take a look at some pretty cool ice shacks that were participating in the Lion's Club Ice Fishing contest. It was a lot of fun! Check out the video!
February 16, 2013 Many people shared stories of the fireball incident in Russia that injured over a thousand people. There was also talk of a large asteroid passing close to earth, which lead some to get a little uneasy. Is it time to call Bruce Willis and his team to detonate a nuclear weapon on the next asteroid? You know, he has never missed a depth!
February 11, 2013 Last year we shot some videos showing off some cool set ups for ice fishing, and we'd like to do it again! If you've got a nice ice house, e-mail us and we'll come out and visit. We may even bring some goodies!
January 28, 2013 Every year, the Minnesota DNR has a free weekend for parents to ice fish with their children. On Feb. 16th -18th, anyone 16 or older does not need a fishing license if they are accompanied by a child. The DNR website also has some tips for beginners who would like to take out their children.
January 7, 2013 Saturday was a beautiful day for ice fishing. With plenty of sun, and temperatures in the 20's, anyone could have gone out in the ice and sat on a bucket. And judging by the crowds, a lot of people did. We heard the fishing was pretty good on the harbor off of park point, so that's where we went.
