September 27, 2011 Such a sad end to this story, although it seems very much a mistake as the hunter had no idea it was Hope, the bear whose birth made it famous.
The fears of fans of Hope the bear were realized today.
A hunter shot the bear, whose birth was covered on the Web two winters ago, on the evening of Sept. 16, according to a post on the Facebook page for Lily, Hope’s mother.

September 20, 2011 I've always loved dinosaurs, but what guy didn't grow up like that? I even took a class at UMD called 'The Life And Death Of Dinosaurs'. At the time taking that class also meant I never had to take another science class, like the ones with labs (they since have closed that loophole). September 20, 2011 Wednesday is the last Market Day with the Superior Business Improvement District, but not the last Farmer's Market (that goes till the end of October, every Wednesday 11-2). I've been the lucky enough to broadcast from Center City Park in Superior every other week ALL summer long at the Farmer's Market and get in on all the fresh harvest, home-made breads, soaps, crafts and yes, even meats! It's in conjunction with Market Day, where several Superior BID businesses have sidewalk sales, what fun!!! Here's what will be there tomorrow.

August 9, 2011 I've never seen Bigfoot, but I've heard him. I swear. Apparently I'm not the only one in our area that has a Bigfoot story to share. The TV show "Finding Bigfoot" is currently shooting footage and accounts in the Northland. I've done some research and I've found some stories in our own backyard. I'll share them with you, along with my own, after the jump.
Gross as it may be, roadkill is a common roadside feature - deer, raccoons, skunks...and then there's this. A mystery creature was discovered on a rural Douglas County road near Alexandria, MN and speculation on what the animal is has caught the attention of many area residents along with the Department of Natural Resources - who have begun investigating the finding.
I’ve lived in Duluth for four years now, and I’m constantly amazed at how special this place is. The view, the beaches, the music, the food – I could go on and on. For a city its size, Duluth has an incredible variety to offer its citizens. The things that astonish me the most, though, are the streams and wild places that flow right through the city. July 26, 2011 Sad news today from The Lake Superior Zoo.
The Lake Superior Zoo’s female tiger, Natasha, was euthanized today. She was 19.
The zoo’s veterinarian, Dr. Louise Beyea, said Natasha was suffering from multiple chronic problems and had taken a turn for the worse over the last 24 hours.
