Vikings Work Trade, Then Take Kalil With No. 4 Pick

I thought the Minnesota Vikings handled their first pick in the NFL draft perfectly.  Ultimately, they wanted nasty LT Matt Kalil and would've been happy to take him with the 3rd pick.  However, Cleveland feared they may lose the player they wanted so they moved up to the 3rd pick in a trade that moved the Vikings to the 4th pick.  In a nutshell, the Vikings got the player they wanted, paid less for him, and then acquired 3 additional picks from Cleveland.  They then used that Cleveland trade to move back into the first round to get Notre Dame safety Harrison Smith in the 1st round.

Only time will tell how everything shakes out, but I think these moves were great in that they added athletes to a Vikings roster that desperately needs them.  What do you think of the Vikings first round moves?

Vikings Stadium Bill Moves In Senate, House Push Next; Floor Votes Look More Likely

The Minnesota Vikings stadium issue appears to inching close to a resolution, but we've been here before only to find things going backwards.  However, Roger Goddell's recent visit seems to have educated the legislators on the reality that the state could lose the franchise in 2013.

Did New Orleans Saints’ Mickey Loomis Eavesdrop On Opposing Coaches During Home Games?

The hits keep coming for the New Orleans Saints with the story below.  While they are denying this report, who could blame us for believing it based on their recent history of not exactly doing things in the best way?  If this is true,  the league must come down hard once again on this unbelievable franchise.

I've heard those that say that even if true, this doesn't do much to the validity of their winning ways because players still have to make plays.  I disagree.

Dark Meat Getting a Leg Up On Boring Boneless Breast

I guess I can see that cooking with the dark meat is more flavorful and allows for a better texture.  However, I'm still a white meat guy, especially in dishes that feature chicken.  If I get fried chicken, I'll eat dark meat but I don't think I'll jump fully on this bandwagon.  I think for me is a texture thing more than anything.  Which do you prefer?

Best Buy Promises To Release Findings Of Inquiry Into Former CEO

I mentioned on my show today that former Best Buy CEO Brian Dunn resigned under suspicious circumstances.  There was talk that Dunn, who is married, was having a relationship with a 29-year-old woman who worked for the company.  However, as this article points out, there has to be more to this story because of the legal experts the company has hired to investigate his behavior.

Neighborhood Volunteer Charged With Murder In Trayvon Martin Case

George Zimmerman is behind bars for the death of Trayvon Martin and he may very well be there for the rest of his life if he is indeed found guilty of this crime.  This is such a high profile case, I can't imagine a location where jurors won't have awareness and  opinions going in.  I have a feeling this will be going on for some time.  At the very least I think it will be good for that community to hear all the evidence.

How closely have you followed this case?  Enough to have an opinion you'd care to share on the guilt of George Zimmerman?

Tax Deadline Day Can Be Deadly On US Roads

This is your last full week to get those taxes done.  I'd get them done now and then maybe stay off the road!  Since April 15th falls on a Sunday, you do get a little extra time as taxes need to be postmarked by midnight at April 16th.  It's a very stressful time for many who wait until the last minute for various reasons.  This stress leads to a hurried run to the post office that, as it turns out, leads to an increase in road fatalities at tax time.  Well, this report should make the stress of filing taxes even better!  Don't panic, if you aren't done yet you have time.

Veteran Newsman Mike Wallace Dead At 93

The show '60 Minutes' was always iconic for me growing up.  I spent weekends with my dad and Saturdays were always full of things like going to movies, hitting the baseball around, shooting hoops, or just wandering around the woods and gardens at my Grandpas house.  Sunday meant watching football with my dad and his famous hamburgers, that he made week after week in the same black skillet which I don't believe was ever washed.  Whenever I heard the opening to '60 Minutes' it wasn't great for news to me.  It meant the weekend fun was over, dad would bring me home soon as school awaited on Monday.

NFL Shows Off New Line Of Uniforms By Nike

When the new NFL season begins, teams will all have new uniforms as Nike has taken over production.  As you will read, the Seattle Seahawks used this opportunity change the overall look to their uniforms.  However, for most teams the changes not very noticeable.  The Vikings and Packers will look much as they did last year, although the fit and feel to the players is said to be improved.  I'm sure the teams are looking forward to fans wanting to own the new jerseys however.

Ticks Season Is Coming: They’ll Bug You This Spring

The weather hasn't been great lately, but it was enjoyable to have a record setting March across the Northland.  The good news was the warmth and sunshine.  The bad news was an early allergy season and now, an early tick season.

We are well trained in the area to be aware of ticks and the health risks they can cause if not found in a timely manner.  My mother suffered from Lyme Disease and

Katy Perry Shows Up For ‘Kids Event In Slimy Sports Bra Outfit

I remember when I was a kid in junior high and I thought Madonna was so hot (her and Susanna Hoffs from 'The Bangles').  She was provocative dressing in black fishnet outfits with lots of wristbands and big sunglasses.  Looking back and comparing her with what stars wear today, she looks Amish.
