Former Northlander, Mary Jezierski Gives Storm Details from Her Neighborhood in New York After Hurricane Sandy Hits [AUDIO]

History repeats itself, to a point.  The picture left is of a very good friend, Mary Jezierski.  She is a Northland girl, graduated from Proctor, attended UMD and worked as a reporter at the now Northland's Newscenter.  She lives in New York and we were able to speak to her Tuesday morning after Hurricane Sandy had hit the coast.

Area Red Cross on Standby as Massive Hurricane Approaches East Coast

Meteorologists are calling this things like "Frankenstorm" as Hurricane Sandy approaches the east coast of the United States.  The storm that has already claimed nearly two dozen lives in the Caribbean churned Friday near the northern Bahamas and it's expected to hit the states as early as Monday.  This storm could merge with a cold front from the west and rival the "Perfect Storm" of 1991 out east.  Chapters of the Red Cross in the Northland are ready.

3 Killed, 4 Injured in Shooting at Spa in Milwaukee Suburb

Three people are dead and four others injured today after a mass shooting at a spa in Brookfield, Wis., a suburb of Milwaukee. The man police suspect in the shooting has also been found dead, according to a county dispatcher in Wisconsin.

Christian Bale And Wife Visit Aurora Colorado Memorials And Spend Time With Victims

According to Entertainment Weekly, The Dark Knight Rises star Christian Bale released the following statement on Saturday in regards to the Colorado shootings: “Words cannot express the horror that I feel. I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them.”  Soon after he did more than issue a statement, he boarded a plane with his wife and flew to Aurora, Colorado to see the vigils and meet with victims.
