Normally on Sunday, Hollywood studios release their box-office totals for the weekend to see which movie rakes in the most money. While it is expected that "The Dark Knight Rises" will clearly be the winner this weekend, with estimates of over $160 million being made in its 3-day opening weekend, the studios are withholding numbers until Monday following the tragic events in Colorado.
At least 12 people were killed and 50 injured when someone went into an Aurora, Colorado movie theater during a midnight screening of 'The Dark Knight Rises' Friday morning, fired a smoke grenade and began shooting.

July 7, 2012 While it was anticipated, it's good to finally get official word that President Obama has declared 13 counties in Minnesota as well as three tribal reservations a federal disaster area. This opens the door to federal aid for Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Crow Wing, Dakota, Goodhue, Kandiyohi, Lake, Meeker, Pine, Rice, Sibley and St. Louis counties as well as the Fond du Lac Tribal Nation, the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe and the Grand Portage Tribal Nation.

July 2, 2012 The day I turned 16, I took my driver's license test. From the day onward, I was now forever hooked to a car. I got my first job so I could pay the high insurance cost just for me to drive. I was now paying for gas, vehicle maintenance, and everything else in between. A lot of the youth nowadays don't want to do that.

NBC New is reporting that Governor Scott Walker has survived the recall election in Wisconsin. It appears Walker received 59% of the vote, while Democrat challenger Tom Barret received 40.5% of the vote.

June 2, 2012 Let me start by saying that I'm an Adam Sandler fan at heart. I thought he was funny on SNL and I appreciated the dumb humor of 'Happy Gilmore' and 'The Waterboy'. I liked his romantic comedies 'The Wedding Singer' and '50 First Dates', largely because he got a huge assist from the lovable Drew Barrymore in both films. However, lately Adam Sandler has been about as funny as a Mitt Romney vasectomy scar.
May 31, 2012 Breastfeeding in public has recently been a hot topic and now this picture of military moms breastfeeding in uniform is causing outrage for some people, according to Yahoo. The photo is part of a local breastfeeding awareness campaign by Mom2Mom of Fairchild Air Force Base, a support group launched in January by Crystal Scott, a military spouse and mother of three.
Dario Franchitti won the 96th running of the Indy 500 on Sunday by holding off a charging Takuma Sato, who crashed on the last lap. It was the third Indy 500 win for Franchitti, making him one of 10 drivers to win the race three or more times. Piloting his red No. 50 Target-sponsored car, Franchitti won despite starting 16th.
