Postal Service: Junk Mail Could Be New Cash Cow

I was just telling someone that you don't get as much junk mail today as you used to.  Well, it looks like I may have spoken too soon.  When you get direct mail from businesses, how often do you read it?

The U.S. Postal Service wants small businesses to send more direct mail, a.k.a. junk mail, to help the beleaguered agency expand its revenue stream by hundreds of millions of dollars.

Warm Weather Means An Early Start To Allergy Season

If you suffer from allergies, this news is hardly a shock.  I never had any allergies until I got older, but last week my symptoms began.  Hopefully that means they will be over earlier this year too, right?

A mild winter that ended with a flourish of warm weather was a welcome surprise for many Americans. But for the 25 to 35 percent of people who suffer from hay fever, the early arrival of warm weather meant an unusually early start to allergy season.

Law Firm Fires 14 Employees For Wearing Orange Shirts

Stories like this drive me crazy.  Getting fired for wearing certain colored shirt?  Even if it was a protest, which it doesn't appear to be, who cares?  It's a shirt.  Usually, when a company flexes their muscle in such a way it reveals a major interpersonal weakness on their behalf.

They weren't wearing sagging pants or revealing clothing. But dressing in an orange shirt is apparently enough to get fired at one Florida law firm, where 14 workers were unceremoniously let go last Friday.

Signing an unproven backup to be your franchise quarterback can be a dicey proposition.  Scott Mitchell anyone?  Seattle needed a quarterback and now the Green Bay Packers need a backup.

The Seattle Seahawks are hoping another Green Bay backup turns into their franchise quarterback.

Read Greg Smith’s Resignation Essay: ‘Why I’m Leaving Goldman Sachs’

Well, if you have a moral disagreement with a company and have confidence in your ability, why not go out with a Jerry Maguire moment.  I'm sure you have heard about Greg Smith and his very public resignation from the legendary firm of Goldman Sachs.  Here is his entire resignation essay, which first appeared in the New York Times.  Would you ever quit a job this way?  If you have, I'd love to hear your story!

Today is my last day at Goldman Sachs. After almost 12 years at the firm — first as a summer intern while at Stanford, then in New York for 10 years, and now in London — I believe I have worked here long enough to understand the trajectory of its culture, its people and its identity. And I can honestly say

Vikings Agree To Terms With Tight End Carlson

While not a blockbuster deal, the Vikings have signed a free agent. Perhaps they are looking at the successful Patriots offense that features 2 talented tight ends and a great slot receiver in Wes Welker.  This signing gives them 2 young and talented tight ends to put on the field with Percy Harvin.

Brett Favre On Saints Bounties: “Now the truth comes out. That’s good.”

Brett Favre has added more comments about this New Orleans Saints 'Bounty-Gate'.  While I don't think the Vikings would've won that NFC Championship game either way (too many blown opportunities), I do think this whole mess should be taken very seriously by the NFL.

Filling Up Your Car With Natural Gas Could Be A Solution To Energy Crisis [VIDEO]

I heard about this first back in 2008 from billionaire T. Boone Pickens.  He's a geologist, and has worked in the energy field since 1950.  He's trying to get someone to lead the way on his plan in Washington
