‘Frozen’ Review

Sometimes great artistry comes from coloring inside the lines.

Walt Disney Animation's newest film, 'Frozen,' does precious little to push the boundaries of narrative storytelling. Indeed, it is a quite predictable – might I even suggest formulaic - culmination of elements. While picking over the bones of a half-remembered Hans Christian Andersen story, 'The Snow Queen,' Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck's film expands certain themes, disposes of some characters and, of course, modernizes a bit for contemporary audiences. However, miraculously, this doesn't feel like a Xerox of a Xerox impersonating a classic Disney film. There's precious little winking; hardly any of the 'Shrek'-effect. 'Frozen' has enough of the goods to play it straight and succeed on its own terms. It is a major entry in family-friendly entertainment, one that ought to reverberate for years with tie-in toys and stage productions.

Samuel L. Jackson Says ‘Star Wars: Episode 7′ Director J.J. Abrams Hasn’t Contacted Mark Hamill

'Star Wars: Episode 7' has been rumoring the return of original cast members since the project was announced, but as the film is taking a new direction now that J.J. Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan have taken over scripting duties, it's possible that the original cast may no longer have a role in the production. Former Jedi Samuel L. Jackson has spoken to Mark Hamill about returning as Luke Skywalker, and revealed that Hamill hasn't spoken to Abrams.

Will James Bond Battle Blofeld Again?

Though the franchise was successful under Pierce Brosnan's run, when Daniel Craig became James Bond the series got a new life and a rebooting, with 'Casino Royale' starting just as Bond received his license to kill. The series has done a lot of work to integrate previous Bond lore with its more modern approach (and recently re-introduced Miss Moneypenny), but now it seems the path is clear for Bond's most famous nemesis Blofeld to return to the series.

‘It’s a Wonderful Life 2′ Is in the Works Because We Need ‘The Rest of the Story’

Seems there is no moratorium on sequels as, just in time for the holidays, comes news that the Jimmy Stewart classic 'It's a Wonderful Life' is getting a sequel. Nope, not a remake, but a sequel, since apparently we didn't get the full story the first time around. The new film, titled 'It's a Wonderful Life: The Rest of the Story' (original!) will follow the grandson of Stewart's character.

Weekend Box Office Report: ‘The Best Man Holiday’ Stands Toe-to-Toe With ‘Thor: The Dark World’

If there's one thing that we're reminded of a few times a year here at the Weekend Box Office Report, it's that films targeted at black audiences are always ignored by many mainstream movie websites ... until they open huge at the box office. 'The Best Man Holiday' is the latest film to prove that there's an entire group of moviegoers who aren't being given the films they obviously want to see, and hopefully its success will spur Hollywood into action, allowing for the production of more movies with black casts and filmmakers. Maybe. This is Hollywood, after all.

Watch The Honest Trailer For ‘Man Of Steel’ [VIDEO]

The movie 'Man Of Steel' got mostly positive reviews, despite its detractors.  This is the relaunch of the Superman franchise and like many of the new super hero movies, it takes itself very seriously.  I have no problem with that as 'The Dark Knight' is one of my favorite movies in any genre.  However, does this approach fly with Superman?

‘Anchorman 2′ Now Has Its Own Line of Ron Burgundy-Inspired Underwear

Except they're not white and come in colors like "Sex Panther Red" and "Beard of Zeus Blue."
