Grab a Slice of Life and Celebrate National Pie Day, January 23

Yes, there is a National Day for a lot of things, so why should pie be left out?!?!  My favorite is pecan with whipped cream or french silk.  My hubby and daughter are pumpkin fans.  Today is a day to celebrate and indulge in YOUR favorite.  It would make the American Pie Council very happy!

A Bittersweet Look at the Awe-Inspiring Internal MOA Metrodome Destruction with Cathy Kates as She Picks Up Her Dome Memorabilia [VIDEO]

The day started out grand!  We were heading to the MOA field, the Metrodome to pick up our Viking's Season Ticket seats we had owned for the past 26 years.  Who knew the adventure that lay ahead would be SUCH a fiasco?  However, the extra time did allow me to take some great video of the Metrodome destruction.  Check out the amazing destruction in this "last look" video before it's demolished forever.

We’re Buying Our Metrodome Viking’s Season Ticket Chairs!

We have been Minnesota Viking's Season Ticket holders for 26 years.  Yes, they've had their ups and downs, but we were always excited to sit front row in an end zone at an NFL game.  Many friends and family members used our tickets when we couldn't go, so why not buy the chairs that we called "ours" for so many years.

The Day My Grandpa Les Singleton Met JFK on Superior Street in Duluth, Minnesota

All this week, we've seen a lot of specials on the assassination of JFK as we mark the 50th anniversary of that fateful day in Dallas.  About two months before his trip to Dallas, he visited Duluth.  He was in the Northland on September 24th, 1963 and spent a night at the Hotel Duluth, now the Greysolon Plaza.  He was scheduled to give a speech at UMD and there was to be a motorcade in Downtown Duluth.  That's when my Grandpa Les Singleton, a firefighter at the time, came up with his plan.

It’s 11.12.13, How Will You Spend the Second Last Sequential Date of this Century?

Between my co-host Ken Hayes and I, I'm the one that pays attention to fun things that happen with calendar numbers.  That's unusual since I don't do well with math and try to shy away from anything having to do with numbers.  It is a very significant day 11.12.13, the second last sequential date of the century.

Childhood Memories Revived: Remember Krazy Straws [VINTAGE VIDEO]

My husband and I were talking about drinking through a straw last night and I said, "Remember those crazy straws?  The ones that were all curly? I use to love drinking my chocolate milk through it!"  He said, "YES!  Loved mine, EVERY kid had one of those growing up!"  Really?  Every kid?

Own a Piece of History: Downtown Duluth Superior Street Bricks for Sale

We are seriously considering purchase of these bricks to outline our current sidewalk from garage to house.  I think it's cool that a historic piece of downtown Duluth could be on my property!  What a great conversation piece, plus, for years I've driven over them in my car and on the cycle.  Countless times I've run over them during Grandma's half marathon, it would truly be a piece of memorabilia for me and my family.

Ken and Cathy Celebrate the 29th Anniversary of Tetris, One of the Best Selling Video Games of All Times

I busted Ken playing Tetris on his Nintendo Game Boy AGAIN the other day at his desk.  So, when the 29th anniversary date of the game Tetris came up this week, we HAD to talk about it.  I knew of the game Tetris, but never played it until recently, so of course, he was teasing me. It's dubbed as one of the best-selling video games of all times.  Did you play it?
