Local Gas Station Goes Retro, Brings Back Memories Of Full Service

A local gas station company, ICO on London Road, announced that they will be offering full service fueling at their pumps week days from noon to 3p.  They use to be called gas jockeys or full service attendants.  When I was a child there was more gas stations with full service than self-serv.  They would pump your gas, wash your windshield, sometimes your headlights and check your oil. My mom always went to Harold's in Carlton because they came out and pumped gas for you.

Get A Sneak Peek Of Duluth’s Newest Gastropub, The Blind Pig [VIDEO]

I was really bummed when I heard that Tycoon's Restaurant was closing.  I loved their Chicken Florentine and Hummus Platter.  I have lots of great memories at Tycoon's.  The history of this building is amazing, it's the old City Hall.  My daughter celebrated her 18th birthday in the Treasury Room upstairs and when I was coach of the Denfeld Cheerleaders we held our banquet in the Council Chambers.  I plan on continuing to make memories in this historic building with it's new endeavor, the opening of a gastropub called, The Blind Pig.

Who Got Their Grad Pictures Taken At Dean’s Photography In Cloquet?

Long before "digital photography" we didn't have the choice of having a family member or friend take our grad photos.  You went to a professional photographer and your choices of backgrounds were limited.  I think most of us had an indoor head shot, a picture leaning into a tree with a leg up, a picture laying on the ground peeking around a tree and if you got your picture taken at Dean's in Cloquet, leaning against the stone wall in the front of the building.
