An easy recipe that makes it "look" like you spent hours baking in the kitchen, while in reality, you whipped em' up and curled up on the couch with a book until your guests arrived. HA! October 11, 2011 I realize my first three scary movie recommendations were for older movies and I think that is for two reasons. First, I saw those movies when I was young and easier to scare. Second, it is hard to make a good creepy movie and I never got into the torture type movies that became so popular in recent years, like 'Hostel'
October 10, 2011 As Halloween approaches you should mix in a creeping looking demonic kid into your viewing schedule and The Omen will work just fine. Make sure you watch the original 1976 movie starring Gregory Peck, not the horrible 2006 remake (also keep in mind that as far as the sequels The Omen 2 is watchable but they get worse and worse from there)
October 5, 2011 This movie recommendation to get you in the mood for Halloween is a movie my dad brought me to when I was probably too young to see it and I thought it was fantastic then. It's 'An American Werewolf In London'. I recently watched it again and despite some special effects that look a little dated (although at least they aren't CGI!) it holds up pretty well. The movie stars David Naughton, who at the time was best known for doing Dr. Pepper commercials, and Griffin Dunne. They are friends traveling through London when they end up in a place they were warned to avoid and then all the trouble begins. An interesting thing about this movie is it was written and directed by John Landis, who at the time was best know for comedies like 'Animal House' and 'The Blues Brothers''. Michael Jackson liked the effects in this movie so much he hired Landis to direct his full length video for 'Thriller'. Enjoy and remember not to confuse this movie with the piece of crap 'American Werewolf In Paris' which was released years later.
If you're planning a Halloween party, don't get lazy with the treats and snacks. Just setting out big bowls of candy is not going to cut it.
Instead, how about Mummy Cookie Pops? Or Frankenstein Marshmallows? Or even Mis-Fortune Cookies?

October 4, 2011 Halloween is right around the corner, so I thought that on random days leading up to the event I would share with some of my favorite scary movies so you can get ready. First off is a good, spooky ghost and mystery movie. 'The Changeling', starring George C. Scott was made in 1980. Scott plays a man who has tragedy turn is life upside down so he moves into a big old house to start over. As it would have it, this house has secrets and it wants to tell him. I've always like this movie because the pacing isn't frantic, there are no cheesy computer special effects and there are some genuine chills. Enjoy a clip from the film after the jump and then go enjoy the entire film.
