The last time I was at Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank it was to interview the Executive Director Shaye Moris, about the Back Pack Program.  I was amazed at two things.   One was the number of area students that rely the backpack program and the other was the incredible dedication of the volunteers that were packing them.  That day it was a group representing Essentia Health.

The goal is to increase volunteerism at Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank with the “Pledge to Volunteer” campaign.  According to Shaye they have 6 full time positions at the food bank that is filled by volunteers that work along side the 17 staff members.  It's amazing how few people feed so many, that shows their hard work and dedication.

What would you be doing as a volunteer?  You might be doing repacking, sorting and labeling food; assisting with data entry, some office tasks and special events; and assist with programs like their food shelf, mobile pantries and senior programs. If you like to stay busy like I do, this is the place to give of your volunteer time.

If you're interested in volunteer or need more info you can either call Second Harvest at (218) 336-2303 or email Jill at jill@northernlakesfoodbank.org.

Remember, they love to have groups volunteer too.  If you belong to a group or are a leader looking for a community service project or are a member of a big family that wants to volunteer together, this is for you!
