Blatnik Bridge To Close Early Monday Morning For Testing

Signs on both sides of the Blatnik Bridge are alerting motorists that the bridge will be closed during the early morning hours of Monday, July 23rd.

Lane closures will begin around 10pm on Sunday night, but the entire bridge will be closed to motorists starting at midnight. They will be conducting scientific load testing on the bridge. The testing is to determine the current condition of the bridge and future use of the bridge.

Anyone who regularly drives the Blatnik Bridge is accustomed to the routine testing. Single lane closures already began early this month for bridge inspections. The bridge is nearing the end of it's lifespan and there is uncertainty with it's future.

The bridge is expected to re open to traffic at 6am.
