I was in the Bayfront area this morning enjoying a brisk walk behind the DECC and on the Lakewalk when I noticed that traffic was being blocked for something.  Then I saw the huge iconic Bentleyville holiday tree sections being slowly transported down Railroad Street to the waiting volunteers that would assemble it for the season.  It won't be long now!

I've noticed more cars parked in the Bayfront Park parking lot lately because the holiday season is fast approaching and that means volunteers are busy preparing for the opening of Bentleyville. (SO excited!)  It's cool to know that Duluth is home to the largest FREE walk through lighting display in America!  Many of the displays are already assembled and soon the enchanting lights will be welcoming thousands of red cheeked, smiling faces to our city.  Today they moved and assembled the 128 foot Bentleyville holiday tree that sports 100,000 LED lights.  Of course, they can always use more volunteers for set-up, sounds like fun doesn't it?

Bentleyville will open on Saturday, November 21st and remain opened through Sunday, December 27th.  If you have family and friends in town for the holidays, Bentleyville WILL be open on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Night.

  • Sunday – Thursday 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm
  • Friday & Saturday 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Whether you are an individual, couple, family or organization you can be part of the phenomenon this season.

According to the Bentleyville website, they utilize four million lights on 20 acres.  Photo ops are abundant, even with Rudolph, Santa and Mrs. Claus when they're not making toys at the North Pole.  Enjoy popcorn, cookies and hot chocolate or take a moment to roast a marshmallow over a fire pit.  Bring your skates and take advantage of the Bayfront skating rink while you listen to the holiday music.  Make memories and traditions with your family!
