Far West Fest starts today, however traffic won't be affected until tomorrow. Still, there is a significant amount of street detours and closures you should be aware of to make travel around the Northland stress-free.  Here's everything you need to know from the Duluth Police Department.

Commonwealth Avenue will be closed to traffic Saturday, June 29 from approximately 8:00 am until 2:00 am Sunday morning when it reopens. Commonwealth Avenue will close again on Sunday, June 30 at 9:00 am and will reopen at 4:00 pm.

During the event traffic will be detoured to 99th and 101st Avenues West. 99th Avenue West will be signed as ONE WAY NORTHBOUND, and 101st Avenue West will be signed as ONE WAY SOUTHBOUND.

Southbound traffic on Commonwealth will be directed west on Reis street, south on 101st Avenue West to Gary street, then east on Gary street back to Commonwealth Avenue.

Northbound traffic on Commonwealth will be directed east on Gary street , north on 99th Avenue West to Reis street, then west on Reis street back to Commonwealth Avenue.

Please note that DTA buses will follow the detoured routes.

Areas of Gary Street, Reis Street, 99th Avenue West, and 101st Avenue West will be posted No Parking, to accommodate vehicle, bus, and truck traffic during street closure times.

Drivers are asked to use caution in the area during this event, and to watch for detours, barricades, no parking signs and officers directing traffic.
