Recently, the Minnesota Twins announced that there would be a new right field experience beginning this year at Target Field.  I knew right away that I needed to check it out.

The first thing I noticed as I walked into Target Field through Gate 34 was that it was noticeably wider, which made entering the gate feel less claustrophobic.

I always enter this gate and usually, all I would see as I walked in was the Fox Sports North broadcast booth and a guy selling beer from a cart.  That has changed drastically with the addition of the Bat & Barrel, which is open to anyone with a ticket to the game.

The Bat & Barrel has a sports bar style atmosphere.  It is very spacious with huge HD screens everywhere featuring sports and, of course, the Minnesota Twins game from the first pitch on.

It's a lot of fun to walk around inside and see display cases featuring the Twins 1987 and 1991 World Series Championship trophies, as well as replica Gold Glove awards, Silver Sluggers, Manager of the Year, Cy Young awards and Batting Champion silver bats.

Walk outside the glass doors onto the Bat & Barrel patio for a terrific view of the game from above right field. Another cool feature is that you can watch the game from there with seating available on a first come, first served basis for just $5.

Basically, you could buy the least expensive ticket available and then head straight to the patio of the Bat & Barrel and, for and additional $5, get a good seat with bathrooms nearby and a server to bring you food and drinks.

They did have a pretty large menu to choose from with prices in line with other Target Field options, although I didn't eat so I can't speak to how good the food is.  I did have drinks and I can verify that the Bat & Barrel is on the pricey side, like most of the beverages at Target Field.

To sum it up, although it's pricey, the prices are pretty much in line with what you expect to pay for food and beverages throughout Target Field.  The atmosphere and the view of Target Field, along with the outdoor seating options for the game, are what make Bat & Barrel worth coming to the game early for.

I will definitely be back!
