Balloon Stunt Makes Public Angry

Twitter user seedlingproject

Video game maker THQ released 10,000 red balloons in San Fransisco this week angering some environmentalists and residents of San Fransisco.

The video game maker released the balloons to promote a new game called ‘Homefront‘, in where North Korea invades mainland America. The balloon release was meant to mock the games fictional North Korean regime.

But any balloon that goes up, must come down, and in the wet, foggy San Fransisco weather the balloons came down pretty quickly into the San Fransisco bay.

Local environmentalists are worried the balloons could harm wildlife in the area, THQ say’s in a statement:

The balloons released at the Homefront rally event today were made from a 100 percent organic product and are 100 percent biodegradable, the balloons have no history of causing any environmental pollution on land or in water. Although we’re confident that there will be no harm to the environment, we’ve retained a cleanup crew to remove any potential lingering debris.”

Authorities are looking into the stunt to see if any laws were broken.
