Ken Hayes
Hello! I'm one half of the breakfast club on B105. Thanks for checking out my page! Here's a little about me:Background:I grew up on the Iron Range and have lived in quite a few places since, including the Twin Cities, Fairmont MN, and of course the great Twin Ports. I feel at home in the Duluth/Superior Area and I've always missed the Northland when I haven't been here.I graduated from Virginia High School, and then went on to receive my degree in Communications from Brown College. I took my first gig in Radio at a small station in southern Minnesota. After 3 years, I had to move back. I got sick of corn and pigs and not much else. Luckily, I was able to land this job at B105 in 2007. Since then, I've had the biggest changes in my life, including getting married, buying a house, and actually growing up. (Cathy Kates would argue with that.)Here's some questions that listeners often ask me:Do you like Country Music?- Of course I do! I have a pretty well rounded taste in music, but country is my favorite. I also like a lot of old school country. Not just your typical Johnny Cash/Willie Nelson/Waylon Jennings "outlaw stuff" but also classics from Conway Twitty, Vern Gosdin, Don Williams, etc. My favorite artists that are popular now are probably Jason Aldean, Jamey Johnson, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, and more. Besides country, I have a pretty good handle on classic rock too.Do you and Cathy get along?Cathy and I love to give each other a hard time on the Breakfast Club, and we wouldn't be able to if we didn't enjoy each other's company. There are times when she really does drive me crazy and I know I drive her crazy sometimes (usually I try to :).What's the best part of your job?-It's fun! We work a lot of really screwy hours, and we aren't millionaires, but it doesn't feel like work. And that's pretty cool. What time do you get up in the morning?4:30am - And that really stinks. Thank god I'm a guy and can get ready for the day in only 20 minutes. (includes shower, shave, and dressing time)Send me an e-mail. I'd love to hear from you! And thanks for listening!
