David Drew

I am Duluth, Minnesota born and raised.  Early on I was fed only organic foods, having only the finest oils ritualistically  applied to my skin......once I realized I was being raised for either trade or consumption I quickly found a new, more stable home environment -- but still in Duluth! My only surviving schools are Grant Elementary (Go Grizzlies!) and UMD (Go Bulldogs!), having attended both Washington Junior HS (Go artsty apartment building!) and Duluth Central HS (Go...Condos?! ).  After a brief move to Minneapolis after college, I came back to the area I love and have been here ever since. I grew up in radio, with my dad programing WGGR and later doing The David John & Granny Show for WDSM.  My first job in radio was in college with John Michaels and a fun crew at KZIO, where I learned a lot, and I have stayed in it ever since. Working with the amazing staff at B105 is only topped by all the cool listeners I get to meet along the way.  Now a few things about me... Pet Peeve: People who create drama for attention....chill. Favorite Drink:  Depends on the mood, but lately been trying different rums.  I also love Tequila and trying different seasonal microbrews. Favorite Movie: I am a HUGE movie buff so this is impossible.  A few all time favorites are JAWS, Field Of Dreams, Almost Famous and City Slickers. Who I'd like to meet: I grew up secretly listening to Steve Martin stand up (my mom thought I was too young, she was probably right) and loved his energy and insanity.  It, for better or worse, shaped my sense of humor.  I'd love to meet him -- oh, and Meagan Fox or Reese Witherspoon. Hobbies: I love summer sports like softball and volleyball.  Although I don't think I'm a runner, I have run 9 Gary Bjorklund Half Marathons and every Gobble Gallop 5k so I guess it's a hobby.  In the fall I bowl a little—even managed to bowl a 300 game, much to my surprise. I also swear at the TV on Sundays in the Fall (Fantasy Football). Favorite Country Artists: Where do I start? Keith Urban and Brad Paisley are two favorites as I appreciate their guitar skills and song writing. I also have to mention Lady Antebellum not just because they are talented, but because we shared drinks in Memphis and they were very cool --and picked up the tab!

Eric Church Rocks Out A Little Less With ‘Give Me Back My Hometown’ [VIDEO]

When Eric Church released 'The Outsiders', the first single from his new album, people wondered if Eric was about to release a country-metal type of project.  While I personally thought the song was cool, a lot of people found it a bit too edgy for their tastes.  Well, there's good news for everyone with his brand new song.

12 Days Of Christmas Music, Day 11: Vince Gill Sings a Favorite in a Video that is a Tribute to Our Troops[VIDEO]

With just two more sleeps until Christmas, I thought it would be a great time to remember our troops.  Not everyone gets to spend Christmas with the ones they love, so let's remember the brave men and women serving at home and abroad, their families, and those who have paid the ultimate price.

12 Days Of Christmas Music, Day 10: Kellie Pickler is Wanting A Little Santa Magic [VIDEO]

When I first started my 12 days Of Christmas Music, Ken Hayes asked me if I'd play Kellie Pickler.  He then asked every single day why I hadn't picked Pickler yet.  Finally, on Friday, he told me if she wasn't on our website by Monday morning he'd show up for work Monday dressed just like her in this video.

12 Days Of Christmas Music, Day 9: Brad Paisley with a Story and a Song [VIDEO]

I can't go all 12 days without playing a Christmas song from Brad Paisley.  Brad is great in that he has one foot in the future of country music while never taking the other foot out of the awesome heritage country music has.

12 Days Of Christmas Music, Day 7: Have Yourself Some Keith Urban [VIDEO]

Time to honor another listener request, as I've heard from Melanie that I need to pick a Keith Urban Christmas song as some point.  Day 7 seems like a perfect Keith Urban day and even though he's never released a Christmas album, he has performed one of my favorite Christmas songs.

12 Days Of Christmas Music, Day 6: Joe, Joe, Joe Diffie [VIDEO]

Even though Billy Ray Cyrus will probably be remembered as the best mullet in country music history, second only to a young Blake Shelton, we can't forget Joe Diffie.  Joe not only rocked a mean blonde mullet while singing hits like 'Pickup Man' and 'John Deere Greene', he also had a successful Christmas album.

12 Days Of Christmas Music, Day 5: For Anyone Who Wants To Get Naughty With Gary Allan [VIDEO]

When I first started my '12 Days Of Christmas Music' list, I asked for input on your favorite songs.  I've had several women ask me to pick a Gary Allan song, which is interesting since he never released a Christmas album.  He did do a killer version of 'Please Come Home For Christmas', but since the women who reached out to me love Gary, I thought I'd take the naughty route.
