Cathy Kates

Hi y'all, thanks for checking out my bio! I grew up in the country community of Wrenshall, attended church in Carlton and worked in Cloquet. I adore and respect my family. My husband and I laugh and run together (well, I jog). My daughter is in her final year of college and keeps me young and our dog Bauer is an overactive Schnauzer. (he keeps me on my toes!) I love shoes, Asian food, and trying new recipes. My dream (at the moment) is to be on the Big Bang Theory or the Ellen Show. I have been in broadcasting for 18 years and thank you for your friendship and waking up to laugh with Ken, me and the Breakfast Club. ~Peace, Love & Hugs

Three Taste of Home St. Patrick’s Day Recipes to Delight Your Family

My ex-mother-in-law celebrated every holiday with glee in both decorating her home and serving food on the holiday in her kitchen!  When it came to St. Patrick's Day you could expect green cake, green beans and she even put green food coloring in her mashed potatoes. (looked totally bizarre, but tasted the same).  I thought I'd help you out with a few recipes that your family will enjoy and add a bit of festivity to your St. Patty's Day table.

My Daughter Has A Spider Infestation, Can You Help Us With Advice

About two weeks ago my daughter, Kylee, texted me that she thought she had a disease.  That prompted a phone call from mom!  I found out that she had what looked like a bite with the skin around it hardening.  I suggested a visit to the doctor, but she was busy with work, school and getting ready to leave for Spring Break.  Until the next day when it got worse.

Thinking Of A New Pet, How About A Fully Trained Alligator?

I am NOT a reptile fan.  Snakes, lizards, gaters, crocks, don't want to have anything to do with them.  So I was horrified when I saw that a woman in Florida was selling an alligator, albeit it's a fully trained one.  What does that mean????

Spring Ahead This Sunday During Daylight Saving Time, An Important Reminder To Change Batteries

You read the headline and said "oh yeah", didn't you.  Yup, this week-end is  Daylight Saving time! If you are still confused, think of the season, it’s SPRING ahead an hour. So, yes, we lose an hour of sleep, but on the "bright" side we gain an hour of daylight.  Another thing to remember is to change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.  Even if they are still good, change them. That way you know they’re fresh and ready to keep your family safe.

It's what every radio announcer tries to avoid "a catch phrase".  Obviously, hockey players don't.  Definition?  A catch phrase is a word or sentence that is your go to comfort zone when you need to fill time to think of the next thing your going to say.  Most people use "um".  This excited Wayzata, MN hockey player caught Jimmy Kimmel's attention with his after win post interview and a NEW catch phrase to me.  It will leave you grinning and shaking your head.
