Cathy Kates

Hi y'all, thanks for checking out my bio! I grew up in the country community of Wrenshall, attended church in Carlton and worked in Cloquet. I adore and respect my family. My husband and I laugh and run together (well, I jog). My daughter is in her second year of college and keeps me young and our dog Bauer is an overactive Schnauzer. I love shoes, Asian food, and trying new recipes. My dream (at the moment) is to be on the Big Bang Theory or the Ellen Show. I have been in broadcasting for 16 years and thank you for your friendship and waking up to laugh with Ken, me and the Breakfast Club. ~Peace, Love & Hugs

Hundreds Of Volunteers Needed To Ring Bell In Local Salvation Army Red Kettle Program

I started ringing bell (or shaking maracas) years ago.  When my daughter Kylee was old enough she rang with me.  It's a great opportunity for family time while teaching your kids the spirit of donating and sharing your time and energy.  As she grew older we morphed to wrapping gifts at the Salvation Army Gift Wrap booth at the mall. I know we aren't even to Halloween yet, but before you get to busy get volunteering on your holiday calendar.  Here's everything you need to know.

Flu Shots Are Now Available At Neighborhood Essentia Clinics

About a month ago my daughter and I talked about getting our annual flu shots, something we do together every year.  Then, we both got colds so the idea was put on hold.  Now that we're both healthy again I set out to see where we could go.  I found that Essentia Clinics is offering the flu shots at multiple clinics across the Northland.

Volunteers Needed to Combat Buckthorn & Japanese Knotweed In Our Local Parks

I didn't even KNOW what Buckthorn  or Japanese Knotweed was, let alone know they were dangerous.  I thought buckthorn looked pretty until I began to read that they can choke out our native plants and make our wildlife ill.  The City of Duluth is looking for volunteers to help remove a couple different species of invasive plants from our parks in the upcoming weeks.  Can you help with this important task?

Believe In Aliens? Duluth Public Library Hosts Program On UFOs In Minnesota

I'm particularly interested in this program because I just watched the movie "Fire In The Sky".  It's about five guys that are logging deep in the woods.  As they are driving home they see a brilliant light in the sky and one of them is abducted, although the small town they're from doesn't believe them.  The abducted is returned to the town and it shows the emotion and turmoil they all go through.  It's supposedly a true story.  It made me want to learn more.
