Cathy Kates

I'm a Northland girl, born in Cloquet, raised in Wrenshall, and currently living in Duluth. I consider myself lucky to have been able to share my mornings laughing with you for the past 20 years. It's like audio Facebook. I make new friends, but I keep up with old friends too. I set three alarms to get up at 3:10am to do my job, then nap in the afternoon! I am a self-proclaimed multi-tasker (FYI: I am writing my bio, eating breakfast, holding three texting conversations and contemplating what I'll be having for lunch and what to make for dinner ALL right this second). I can't sit still. I even wear a head lamp at campfires so I can cross stitch at the same time. I love puppies, (especially my Schnauzer, Bauer), hot buttered movie theater popcorn, soup, the smell of a lake (especially if I’m fishing in it) and warm fuzzy blankets. I’m a lover, not a fighter, and yes it’s true, I get my hair cut on a weekly basis. I appreciate that you wake up with the B105 Breakfast Club, read and share my blogs and most of all, your friendship through the years! Peace, love and hugs!

Guess What The Latest Get Grillin’ Giveaway Winner Is Most Excited About

I was excited when it was my turn to make the Get Grillin’ Giveaway delivery because the winner lived in Lake Nebagamon. Such a beautiful community that holds special memories for me. Years ago the B105 staff was involved in a musical called “You Had Me From Hello” with the Twin Ports Part Time Players. The performance was filled with country songs that told a love story of sorts. The B105 staff portrayed “themselves” as there was a scene that involved DJ’s announcing a concert. We performed it several times in the city of Superior, but also took the show on the road and that brought us to the auditorium at Lake Nebagamon.

The Dragon Boat festival is coming on Saturday, August 27 and has always been fun for the whole family.  While many are there to watch the rowers, there are other activities that even the youngest family members can enjoy.  Most of these activities usually exist because of local non-profit organizations and their volunteers.  Perhaps you and your family can give some time.

If you haven't visited the Great Lakes Aquarium lately it should be on your "to do" list to see the new Unsalted Seas Exhibit.  My favorite (and always will be) is the Otters, those little playful honeys!  But, my friend Alan White told me the tale that he gets to kiss the sturgeon and THAT I HAD to see.
